Complex B2C & engagement

As part of a team at Bell, I worked closely with Defra, a major UK Government department, for a number of years offering strategic consultancy and creative direction. This page shows a number of examples from this long and successful relationship, not least the redesign of the Defra website and intranet (intranet not illustrated here).

The Whaling brochure, endorsed by both Sir Richard Attenborough and then Prime Minister Tony Blair, was used at the Japanese Whaling Symposium to position the UK as spearheading the anti- whaling campaign. It was picked up and promoted by the BBC network and the Reuters Foundation.

Defra Renew, was a long-term, UK-wide programme to inform staff about comprehensive organisational changes, following the Gershon Review. We developed and delivered an internal communications and staff engagement programme to help Defra’s internal communications team manage and implement the changes.

Meeting the challenge of climate change is one of Defra’s five strategic priorities. We created an integrated campaign that was a central point of reference for all those involved in the Government programme: regulators, other Government departments and their agencies, Regional Development Agencies, local authorities, educators/ academics, NGOs and industry bodies and trade associations.
